Spending the Night at My Beach House

I was thinking of the open seas,
The people at the beach enjoying the breeze,
At night, when the full moon hung like a torch,
I sat reading at my beach house porch.

I looked up and saw the starry sky,
The stars like diamonds hooked up high,
Not just diamonds, they twinkled too,
And look'd at the lil birds as they coo.

I tried to focus on my book,
Meanwhile, here, at my nook,
My cat, Roselyn, came to my lap,
And snored away a sound nap.

I brushed my hands along her fur
And sat there till the world began to blur,
I closed my eyes and counted sheep
And with that I fell asleep.
