Upside-Down

Image
The summer solstice was a sunny day.  My friends and I were playing Pictionary up in my room. "Hey Jia, think! It's very easy," Kara said. "Oh, is it? Well, the thing which Zumi drew looks like a monkey and that is not the answer!" "Come on, my drawing isn't that bad," I said. "Okay, please make it quick. Time's ticking. Or in the hourglass, dropping." Shania said. "Stop this banter and let me concentrate, will you?" Jia kept glancing at the hourglass and back to the picture, but it didn't look like she achieved anything. Suddenly, she gasped and pointed at the hourglass. The sand in the hourglass was going up instead of down. "Am I hallucinating? This is impossible!" exclaimed Shania. "I guess not, unless people can hallucinate about the same thing altogether." I replied. The sand kept moving faster and faster, and on the upper half of the hourglass, there formed bluish-black clouds along with the

The Dog Who Booked a Ticket

Image
Photo by Veerle Contant on Unsplash There was a dog, Who booked a ticket, For a horse and himself, Right in the thicket. The dog held out A big grey phone, And started to speak In a serious tone, That he wanted a ticket for himself and a horse, That's when the things Started turning worse. He had to go From Pune to Dehradun, He made a mistake-- From London to the Moon. On the other side The travel agent broke out in a sweat, And grew so worried His forehead was wet. The travel agent Slightly trembled and said, "Sir, there's no ride to the moon, No matter how much you've paid." The dog was indignant And started to bark, "Listen, you have to send me and hark, "I'll give you a triple Of whatever you ask. Only if you complete Your assigned task. Else, be ready, my jaws are waiting, My bite'll hurt harder than a bee's sting." The travel agent swooned, But managed to say, "Sir, there'

Let Us Be United

Image
Forget your troubles, Forget your woes, Forgive all the people Who ever poked their nose. There's a ray of hope, A flicker of light, Let's get it altogether Or we'll have to fight. Let's be happy Let us find joy, Let us be united We can all comply. Let us make a band, Of acquaintances old and new, Let us not search perfection, The number is less than few. So I conclude with this line, If we're united, all'll be fine.

Mouse on Mars

Image
There was a mouse, Who lived in a house In the planet Mars, Where there were no cars. He rode a red bike, Sometimes went for a hike, To the Olympus Mons Keeping in mind the pros and cons. He always took some ropes, He went in high hopes, To reach the peak Without being pecked by a beak. At home he ate cheese, On the terrace, in the breeze, Read a newspaper which had a crease, And rubbed on his bike's chain some grease. He wanted some money, So he sold some honey, To a grizzly bear Who was bored eating his pear He grew his veggies, on the Marsian dust, Which was so red, it looked like rust. He grew a few carrots for the Rabbit, Who also jumped about, since that was his habit. He grew some spinach for the caterpillar, Who ate in the attic and slept in the cellar. He grew some flowers for the bees, Because without them they'd wander in the trees. All this homework earned him repose, And if it didn't, he always had a dose. This mouse on Ma

My Class

Image
My class, V-E, is a zoo, With no concrete cells, But with ringing bells, And everyone shouting "shoo". Sometimes it's like a living hell, And in unison thirty voices yell, They run and shout like monkeys minus tails, You can't "shoo" them cuz you'll fail. Other times it's just like paradise, Seems like you won the roll of dice, They'll speak so polite and act so nice, You'll forget you've come to a pack of mice. Now that's my class, Sometimes they're good as angels, Sometimes bad as ghosts, Come here, and if you're lucky, I'll be your host. Photo by  Iqwan Alif  from  Pexels

Spending the Night at My Beach House

Image
I was thinking of the open seas, The people at the beach enjoying the breeze, At night, when the full moon hung like a torch, I sat reading at my beach house porch. I looked up and saw the starry sky, The stars like diamonds hooked up high, Not just diamonds, they twinkled too, And look'd at the lil birds as they coo. I tried to focus on my book, Meanwhile, here, at my nook, My cat, Roselyn, came to my lap, And snored away a sound nap. I brushed my hands along her fur And sat there till the world began to blur, I closed my eyes and counted sheep And with that I fell asleep. Photo by  Dominika Roseclay  from  Pexels

Our Mother Earth

Image
Photo by  Markus Spiske  from  Pexels Our Mother Earth, So clean and green, Looks just like A beauty queen. She's very calm and holds us in her palm and smiles at us as we are in her realm. We destroy her beauty and interrupt in her duty, Still she loves us, Our mother in her certainty. Let's take action now Before it's too late, Let's take a solemn vow Or we're doomed to our fate.
